Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of questions frequently asked about therapy services. If you have any additional questions, please reach out by booking a free consultation or by emailing me at: michelle@luzdeluzcounseling.com

Do you take insurance?

Luz de Luz Counseling, PLLC does not accept insurance. After each session, the client will receive an invoice/receipt. We do accept Health Saving Accounts at this time.

How can I prepare for my consultation?

I know how difficult the start of the process can be. It requires much courage and you may have many doubts and mixed emotions — this is normal. To prepare for your free 30-minute video consultation, it can be helpful to reflect on what you hope to achieve in therapy and the issues you would like to address. You can also think about questions you may have. It’s important to approach this meeting with an open mind and a willingness to be honest and vulnerable. Logging in a few minutes early can help you feel more settled and can give you time to work out potential connection issues. Know that I am looking forward to meeting with you.

What should I expect during my first therapy session?

During the first therapy session, we will discuss information about your background, current concerns, and goals for therapy. We will also review the forms you completed electronically, prior to the first session. This process is useful for better understanding your situation and developing a treatment plan.

How often do I need to attend therapy sessions?

At the start of our work, I strongly recommend that clients attend therapy weekly. This allows me to get to know you and your presenting concerns. Ultimately the frequency of therapy sessions depends on factors such as the severity of the issues, personal preference, and the therapist's recommendation. Usually, as progress is made, sessions may be spaced further apart, such as every two weeks or once a month.

What is your cancelation policy?

Sessions must be cancelled or rescheduled 24 hours in advance. You will be responsible for the entire session fee of $80, if the cancellation is less than 24 hours.

How long does it take to see progress or results in therapy?

The timeframe for seeing progress in therapy varies depending on several factors, including the nature of the concerns, the client’s willingness to engage in the therapeutic process, and the frequency of sessions. Some people may experience improvements in a few weeks, while others may require more time. Consistency and open communication with your therapist are key.

How can I prepare for therapy to make the most of my sessions?

To make the most of your therapy sessions, it can be helpful to come prepared by reflecting on your concerns, identifying specific goals or areas you'd like to work on, and being open to the therapeutic process. It's also important to communicate openly with your therapist, ask questions, and actively engage in the recommended exercises or homework outside of sessions.
